Kelvin Smith is a left-handed top-order batsman who has had a decorated junior career. An outstanding Australian U19 player, Kelvin also stamped his name on the Australian domestic scene by making a half century against a fired up Mitchell Johnson at the WACA in just his third Sheffield Shield game.
Kelvin has also played T20 cricket for the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades and performs well in all three forms of the game.
During the 2019 off season Kelvin decided to move to Perth and try his luck with the Western Australian squad. Due to Covid, opportunities were limited in WA, and Kelvin is back involved with the Redbacks program from 2021/22. After many more runs at Premier cricket level, Kelvin made his comeback to the Redbacks in the final rounds of the One Day and Sheffield season of 2022/23, and looked so much at home that he is now back on contract with SA for the 23/24 season.
